Rhinoplasty Recovery: What to Expect Week by Week

Understanding the rhinoplasty recovery timeline helps you plan and set realistic expectations. Here’s a general week-by-week guide.

Week 1

The cast or splint is in place; expect swelling and bruising around the eyes. Most patients rest and keep the head elevated. The cast typically comes off at the end of this week.

Weeks 2–3

Major bruising fades and most people feel comfortable returning to non-strenuous activities and social settings. Residual swelling remains, especially at the tip.

Months 1–3

Swelling continues to settle and the shape refines. You’ll look well to others, though subtle changes continue.

Up to a year

The final, refined result emerges as the last swelling resolves — particularly for the nasal tip and for revision cases.

Tips for a smooth recovery

Follow post-op instructions, avoid strenuous activity early, protect the nose from sun and injury, and keep follow-up visits. Learn more about rhinoplasty with Dr. Zandifar or what rhinoplasty involves.
